THE POWER OF A GIRL’S TRIP: 7 REASONS TO BOOK ONE NOW

Hey guys.

It’s me, Leslie.

It’s been a while. Five months to be exact.

I think more has happened in these past five months than in the past 29.5 years of my life.

Now I’m not here to make excuses. I’m hoping we can kind of skip over the fact that I’ve been otherwise occupied, and instead focus on today’s post topic — the power of a girl’s trip.

Last November, some of my favorite ladies — my mother, little sister, aunt and I — hopped on a plane and went straight for Paris.

(Warning — all of these pictures are edited VERY differently — I edited them at different times/different phases, and some came from my sister, some came from my mother. I certainly don’t have a professional blog going on here.)

Why Girl’s Trips Are Important

I love traveling with my husband. And I love traveling with my whole family.

But sometimes, traveling with just girls fills my heart and soul with so many wonderful things.

Here are a few reasons why I think girl’s trips are so incredibly valuable.

1. The Conversations

Sometimes the conversations are loud, sometimes they’re quiet. Sometimes they’re full of laughs, sometimes they’re full of tears.

But conversations with my ladies always leave me feeling something wonderful — either happy or enlightened.

To put it simply, girls just get girls.

2. Finally – someone who loves sweets as much as me.

I don’t know about you, but the main guys in my life — my husband and my father — can both EASILY do without dessert any day.

It is a constant struggle for me to not stuff my face with any form of dessert that comes my way. (‘Cake over steak’ is my life motto.)

When traveling with girls, chances are good they’ll happily indulge in dessert whenever you want. In fact, most of the time, it seems that dessert is always on the mind and everyone’s just waiting for someone else to suggest it first.

3. Honest opinions

When you ask a guy how you look, he’ll usually say “great” or “fine,” no matter what you’re wearing.

Thankfully, your ladies will be more honest. I can always count on my sisters to tell me if I look ridiculous (which, oftentimes I do).

4. Silliness is a given

When girls get silly, they get really silly. And few things feel better.

When I’m with my ladies, I can fully unleash my inner weirdo and know that it will be 100% without judgement.

5. Healing powers

There is something almost witch-like about women’s ability to help their fellow females feel better in times of sadness.

Sometimes girl’s trips feel like they’re not at the right time if you’re going through some struggles in your life. But the reality is that a trip with your girls will always be at the right time.

If you’re going through tough times, your ladies will help boost you up.

And if you’re on top of the world, your ladies will help keep you there.

6. Shame-free selfies

Anyone who says they don’t take selfies is lying. If even my father, who still uses a typewriter and checks his cell phone maybe twice a week has taken a selfie, you have too.

And you’ve probably found a bit of joy in it.

Some of us find more joy in selfies than others, and those people are typically your girls.

They will patiently wait as you snap as many selfies as you need to feel your most beautiful self.

Now that’s friendship.

7. Reconnect with your inner self – your spirit animal

Life can get so busy sometimes that we lose track of ourselves.

A girl’s trip is the perfect time to reconnect with the ones closest to you, including yourself.

Traveling with your ladies will help remind you of who you are, and the spirit animal inside that drives you.
