As we finally say goodbye to a long winter, it’s time to welcome in spring the Williamsburg way – full of blossoming trees, rooftop bars, and afternoons in the sun. Tucked along the East River, this trendy area of New York offers an experience that blends history, art, culture, food, and fashion, with a modern twist. Look no further than Williamsburg for a springtime adventure you’ll want to relive over and over.

Here, the hot spots of Williamsburg that bring its charm to life – everything from scenic parks for the ideal picnic to the best places to rest your head at night.

Parks

You can’t say you did Williamsburg without experiencing the parks that make this place feel so alive.

On the top of my list (and most) is McCarren Park. Here you’ll find the beautiful lush green that balances out the surrounding concrete jungle. Enjoy the added bonus of cherry blossoms in the spring and the opportunity to play soccer, basketball, or countless other games.

East River State Park is where you want to go to catch epic views of the Manhattan skyline, arguably making this nature’s best sunset spot in Williamsburg.

Food

New York City’s culinary scene is nothing short of a gastronomic wonderland, offering everything your heart could ever desire at any time of the day. And Williamsburg is no exception, but here you’ll want to focus your time on energy on the iconic Jewish delis and Italian trattorias to get some authentic, local flavor. Though the verdict is still out on which Williamsburg deli is best, it’s hard to visit here without tasting Katz’s Deli. Just be prepared to wait in a line that wraps around the concert for a mouthwatering bite of hand-carved corned beef. But hey, when it’s spring and the sun is shining, you won’t mind the wait.

For those who live a life free of meat, Williamsburg is a haven for vegan restaurants that even non-vegans will love. Reviews of Modern Love are raving thanks to its menu packed with comfort food such as waffles, poutine, peach pie, and more.

When in New York, you also must do as New Yorkers do and get a delicious bagel. Bagelsmith is the spot for this doughy delight.

Drinks

If you’re a beer drinker, be sure to sample the neighborhood’s breweries, including Brooklyn Brewery and Grimm Artisanal Ales.

Craving a classic dive bar experience complete with karaoke, pool, and Skee-ball? Then make your way to Alligator Lounge. Did I mention they have free pizza every day? Yes, you read that right: free pizza.

And for those caffeinated drinks to help you recover from the night at the places above or to fuel your adventure through the city, opt for Vittoria. This place will have you feeling like you’re in Rome – well, the Williamsburg take on Rome.

Shopping

Vintage stores are more than just a trend in Williamsburg – they are a way of life. Here you’ll find a treasure trove of vintage like you’ve never seen, along with designer boutiques and artisan markets with items crafted by some seriously skilled creators. I hear Beacon’s Closet and L Train Vintage are the place to go for truly epic vintage finds.

Time your trip to the city for a Saturday and treat yourself to a leisurely stroll around Smorgasburg, an open-air extravaganza of food and flea market delights – with a cup of delicious coffee in hand, of course. Don’t skip out on Artists & Fleas, another local hotspot packed with handmade goods and unique vintage treasures.

Art

Williamsburg is an artistic playground where art and creativity exist at every turn (literally – street art is everywhere). This vibrant part of the city is bursting at the seams with galleries just waiting to be explored. It’s impossible to pick a “favorite” or “best” place to see art here, as it all depends upon your style and interests.

However, a great place to start is the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, not only for the fabulous rotating exhibits inside but also to enjoy the building as its masterpiece – a jaw-dropping structure dating back to 1867. From there, simply start walking and let your feet guide you through the neighborhood, where you’ll be met with endless art that will leave you awestruck.

Sleep

Williamsburg has some great unique stays that offer very different experiences, so there is something for everyone here.

Seeking a swanky boutique escape? Look no further than CODA Williamsburg. This place oozes Malibu and Bali vibes right in the heart of Brooklyn’s trendiest neighborhood. Indulge in the comfort of a king suite, complete with a living room and convenient kitchen – a true urban luxury. CODA goes beyond your typical NYC hotel with its gym and stunning work/meeting space, featuring exquisite CODA Studio furniture (I’ll take one of everything, please).

Springtime is begging for a day at CODA’s Beach Club, an adults-only oasis. Here you can level up your relaxation by reserving a day bed or cabana. Once the sun starts to dip, head up to the rooftop lounge, Creatures of All Kinds, for tasty cocktails, great vibes, and beautiful city views.

If you’re looking for a fun and funky stay, then Penny Williamsburg is your place. This ultra-modern hotel makes you feel right at home, but a home with really stellar art. In collaboration with local non-profits LAND Gallery and Pure Vision Arts, Penny showcases masterpieces created by talented locals with developmental disabilities.

Each stylish room at Penny comes decked out with cozy robes (which is a major win in my book), a handy kitchenette, a pour-over coffee setup with complimentary coffee, and more. Plus, the hotel offers free bike rentals to elevate your city adventure so that you can cruise through the city in true Williamsburg style.
